Sat, May 19th 2018 - Dinner on Buck Creek

Our most esteemed event of the season!  Eat dinner on the banks of Buck Creek for our annual surf and turf fundraiser.  Participate in the silent auction on our double-decker front porches, stroll the grounds during cocktail hour, and eat in our thematically decorated Jubilee Arbor to the sound of a local musician!

Quoted as the "best event in McDowell County" by attendees!  This event is the highlight of the spring event season.

Tickets are limited, so please call soon!  To purchase tickets, call the Carson House office at (828) 724-4948 or email us at info@historiccarsonhouse.com.  You may also purchase tickets through one of our staff or volunteers. 


Sat, Jun 9th 2018 - Heart of the Lion Scholarship Car Show

Join us for our third annual Heart of the Lion Scholarship Car Show from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Register your car for $15.00.  Car show registration includes 1 Grand Prize Ticket ($400 dollar value) and a tour of the Historic Carson House!  Your money goes towards two great causes: a scholarship for McDowell High School students and the Carson House.

If you'd rather view the cars, you're welcome to shop auction items, take part in face painting, and eat the great food on site! Kid and dog friendly!


Sat, Jul 28th 2018 - FATZ Pancake Breakfast

Join us for our annual fundraiser at FATZ Cafe from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.  Be waited on by Carson House staff, Board Members, and Partner volunteers in true Southern style.  Tickets will be available beginning in June 2018.


Sun, Sep 23rd 2018 - 175 Anniversary of McDowell County Celebration

The year 2018 marks the 175th Anniversary of the formation of the City of Marion and McDowell County. As
you know, the original seat of County Government was the Historic Carson House. The Carson House served as
a Court, a jail, and a location for various local government activities. Amanda Finn and Chuck Abernathy will
co-chair the planning for the celebration. The celebration will occur during the week of September 23rd culminating on September 29th.

The 175 Anniversary Celebration will have several events during the week. The festivities will kick off on Sunday, September 23, 2018 with a Historic Costume Fashion Show and Afternoon Tea sponsored by the Historic Carson House. The Carson Partners and the Greenlee DAR will be the hosts. The Fashion Show and Afternoon Tea will be held at the First Baptist Church in the Blanton Fellowship Hall. Tickets and information about this event will be available at the Historic Carson House info@historiccarsonhouse.com.

Wed, Oct 3rd 2018 - County Commissioners Meeting

In historic tradition, the McDowell County Commissioners hold their October meeting in the dining room of the Historic Carson House, the same way the seventeen justices of the peace did to organize our county more than a 170 years ago!  Come witness or participate in this annual event and speak to our current commissioners.

One of the ways that we give back to McDowell County is through our annual Candlelight Christmas Tours.  Tours are free to McDowell County residents and at a reduced cost to all out-of-town guests.  The house is trimmed in fresh, period greenery and the house is lit up by real candlelight!

Stop by one evening between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., enjoy complimentary cider while you wait, and enjoy this holiday themed tour that will inform you about how Christmas was celebrated in years past!

You'll have visions of sugarplums dancing in your heads, guaranteed!
