Sat, Sep 16th 2017 - FATZ Pancake Breakfast

Join us for our annual fundraiser at FATZ Cafe from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.  Be waited on by Carson House staff, Board Members, and Partner volunteers in true Southern style.  Tickets will be available beginning in August 2017.


Fri, Sep 29th 2017 - Revolutionary War Education Day with the Overmountain Victory Trail Association

Join us for the Overmountain Victory Trail Association presentation on Revolutionary War history. 

Find out about how the men who fought in the battle of King's Mountain came to be in that area and information about how they stopped in McDowell County. 

We will host two groups of McDowell County school children; one morning and one evening group. 

We will also have an evening performance, demonstrations, and bonfire at night beginning at 5 p.m.  Dinner will be available for purchase on site for guests!  After the presentation, sit around the Arbor campfire and listen to stories, local music, and toast s'mores!



Mon, Oct 9th 2017 - County Commissioners Meeting at the Carson House

In historic tradition, the McDowell County Commissioners hold their October meeting in the dining room of the Historic Carson House, the same way the seventeen justices of the peace did to organize our county more than a 170 years ago!  Come witness or participate in this annual event and speak to our current commissioners. 


Sat, Oct 14th 2017 - Mountain Glory Booth

We will have a booth at the Mountain Glory Festival in Marion, N.C. from 9:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.  Come visit us!


Sat, Oct 21st 2017 - Halloween 5k Fun Run

Our first ever Halloween Fun Run in conjunction with McDowell Trails Association and the Marion Rotary Club for the benefit of the Historic Carson House.  


Come dressed up in your favorite Halloween costume with your family and friends and run or walk the whole length of McDowell County's Joseph McDowell Historical Catawba Greenway!  

This 5k is fun for the whole family and all are welcome to participate!

Sat, Nov 4th 2017 - Local Market & Christmas Shop

Stop by the Jubilee Arbor at the Historic Carson House for the second annual Local Makrket and Christmas Shop where you can buy crafts made by local artists, local food products, and a complimentary basket to stow your gifts.  Decorated for the season, the Jubilee Arbor shines in this open air, covered market perfectly timed for Christmas shopping!

Past vendors have included potters, knife makers, wood craftsmen, bakers, cheese-makers, novelists, stationery sets, historic marbling, birdhouses, apple orchard items, brooms, peanuts, textile designers, and many, many more!



Thu, Nov 9th 2017 - Carson House Christmas Bazaar

The annual Historic Carson House Luncheon, Bake Sale, and Christmas Bazaar will be hosted at the First Presbyterian Church from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.  


A traditional holiday lunch is served in a festive setting, decorated for the season!  

Purchase your holiday baked goods and local crafts early, for a no-stress holiday season. Spaces are limited, so please purchase your tickets early!

Fri, Dec 1st 2017 - Society Candlelight Evening

As a member of the Historic Carson House Society, you are invited to a candlelight evening event at the Carson House.  We painstakingly decorate the house with fresh, period greenery, offer a variety of heavy hors devours, and light up the house and grounds with candlelight!  If you're a fan of jaunty period tunes, we also have live music to accompany our festive evening.

Feel free to come in period costume or in modern attire, both are welcome and appreciated!

Stop by one evening between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., enjoy complimentary cider while you wait, and enjoy this holiday themed tour that will inform you about how Christmas was celebrated in years past!

You'll have visions of sugarplums dancing in your heads, guaranteed!

Sat, May 19th 2018 - Dinner on Buck Creek

Our most esteemed event of the season!  Eat dinner on the banks of Buck Creek for our annual surf and turf fundraiser.  Participate in the silent auction on our double-decker front porches, stroll the grounds during cocktail hour, and eat in our thematically decorated Jubilee Arbor to the sound of a local musician!

Quoted as the "best event in McDowell County" by attendees!  This event is the highlight of the spring event season.
